130 YEARS HANNAH HOCH - A birthday box
Some mail artists add a stamp print to their mail art, saying 'Hannah Hoch Fan Club'.
Until I received these stamp prints I never had heard of this artist, who was born 1st of November 1889. She has been a collage / photomontage pioneer. She was part of the Dada movement and also became involved in the De Stijl art movement.
For anyone who has a Hannah Höch Fan Club Stamp (and interested others, I haven't one), this group can be the place to share your thoughts and mail art, tributing to and/or inspired by Hannah Höch.
Μερικοί καλλιτέχνες αλληλογραφίας προσθέτουν μια σφραγίδα στα έργα τέχνης τους, που λέει «Hannah Hoch Fan Club».
Μέχρι να λάβω έργα με αυτές τις σφραγίδες, δεν είχα ακούσει ποτέ για την καλλιτέχνη αυτή, η οποία γεννήθηκε την 1η Νοεμβρίου του 1889. Ήταν μια πρωτοπόρος του κολάζ / φωτομοντάζ. Ήταν μέρος του κινήματος Dada και επίσης συμμετείχε στο κίνημα τέχνης De Stijl.

Höch was not only a rare female practicing prominently in the arts in the early part of the 20th century - near unique as a female active in the Dada movement that coalesced in her time - she also consciously promoted the idea of women working creatively more generally in society. She explicitly addressed in her pioneering artwork in the form of photomontage the issue of gender and the figure of woman in modern society. Her transformation of the visual elements of others by integrating them into her own larger creative projects evidenced a well-developed early example of "appropriation" as an artistic technique.(theartstory.org)
Η Höch δεν ήταν μόνο μια σπάνια γυναίκα που ασχολήθηκε με τις τέχνες στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα - σχεδόν μοναδική ως γυναίκα που δραστηριοποιήθηκε στο κίνημα Dada που συνενώθηκε στην εποχή της - και προώθησε επίσης συνειδητά την ιδέα των γυναικών που εργάζονται δημιουργικά γενικότερα στην κοινωνία. Εξέφρασε ρητά στο πρωτοποριακό της έργο τέχνης με τη μορφή φωτομοντάζ, το ζήτημα του φύλου και της μορφής της γυναίκας στη σύγχρονη κοινωνία. Η μετατροπή της στα οπτικά στοιχεία των άλλων με την ενσωμάτωσή τους στα δικά της μεγαλύτερα δημιουργικά έργα, έδειξε ένα καλά αναπτυγμένο πρόωρο παράδειγμα της «οικειοποίησης» ως καλλιτεχνικής τεχνικής.(theartstory.org)
